LYDIA MORDKOVITCH PLAYS BACEWICZ AND ENESCU
Lydia Mordkovitch, a passionate performer and long time Chandos artist, here partnered by the pianist Ian Fountain, presents a programme of works by two Eastern European composers, the Polish Grazyna Bacewicz and Romanian George Enescu. Both composers studied in Paris and were professional violinists and pianists. Mordkovitch recently recorded Bliss’s Violin Concerto on Chandos and received glowing reviews. Gramophone magazine commented, ‘Mordkovitch responds with unflagging conviction and her customary no-holds-barred passion receives alert, warm-hearted support’, and The Times said, ‘Lydia Mordkovitch offers a fiery, almost gypsy interpretation, very fetching, and not at all wrong. A rewarding release’.
